"Who Knew?" Celebrating Our Artists Within

Featuring Guest Conductor, Scott Speck

The West Michigan Concert Winds in collaboration with the Shoreline Community Orchestra and the West Michigan Symphony  come together to showcase the incredible artists within their own organizations here in our hometown!

We are absolutely thrilled to welcome West Michigan Symphony’s Conductor & Music Director Scott Speck as our guest conductor. He will be on the podium with both SCO & the WINDS, leading the rousing "Russian Sailor’s Dance" by Gliere and the contemplative Shaker Song – "Simple Gifts", arranged by Ticheli.

SCO Conductor Nick Mosley shared their program, highlighting artists – Principal Oboe, Michele Wheeler on “Gabriel’s Oboe” by Marricone.  Flutists – Anita Lauterberg & Allison Langlois in duet on "Andante & Rondo" by Doppler.   A Horn Duet by James Sheckler & Allen Beck performing the Mozart "Horn Concerto #3 -Rondo."  A World Premier by local composer Oscar Justian, of "The Big Lake" featuring the 2026 Concerto recipient.

WMCW Conductor & Artistic Director Gail A. Brechting shares their featured artists as – Trombonist Ryan Bouman to perform Eric Cook’s Trombone solo “Bolivar” by Cook, with guest conductor Brian Olian leading the WINDS.  Principal Bassoon – Michael Hanley with Piano Accompaniment by Dr. Sidney Yin on “Solo de Concert Op. 35” by Gabriel Pierné.  “Just For Fun!” by James Barnes a Trumpet, Euphonium & Piano trio will be performed by Matt Lintula and their exchange student from Japan, Mihiro Tanaka with Dr. Sidney Yin, Piano. All these exciting works and more!

"Who Knew"  we had such incredible artists right here in West Michigan?  This concert promises to have something for everyone!
